Great. 3 AM and I’m exhausted, but unable to sleep.
Luckily, Matchbox 20 is nowhere in sight to ruin your chronological awareness. I’ve been cycling through Facebook, email, Reddit, Twitter, Pinterest, and other channels for hours.
I want to stop, but can’t.
This technology-driven insomnia will likely ruin my next day (or two) of productivity — even better, I’ve achieved nothing on my to-do lists. Late-night surfing has become a bad habit I need to break, but just can’t figure out how.
Sound familiar? Let’s take a look at some data that led to this point of paranoia…
“Wow…midnight. I should go to bed.”
Lights off, head on pillow. “I’m a little bored. Had those articles I planned on reading…but not that sleepy yet.”
Reach for my iPhone… “I love you, little guy.”
Open new tab – cut scene opens at my Facebook news feed. “Awwww… just look at Amanda’s adorable kids!” Thumbs up, Jamie Lynn Four Names (we don’t see enough of either of those, do we?)! Thumbs Up, girl!
Scrolling down… “Bam! The new Mini Cooper SUVs are THA BOMB!” Continue scrolling…
“ No f’n way…Puppies, kittens, and a HUMAN BABY all in one photo!?” Like. “Oh yeah, I should send that Ferrari pic to Erica… and email her to catch-up.”
Switch to the glorious garden of Gmail. “(Sigh)…inbox full? How? I’ll just respond to one or two.” And mid-response, a new post from Mashable pops up – yes, in the nonsensically adolescent Social tab. “Smartwatch? Whaaaaaaaaattttt???”
So…Think you’re ready to market your product to her?
