This week I looked at my list of potential posting topics and nothing motivated me. That’s one of the drawbacks of working in the creative field, you are driven by impulses. Whether positive or negative it is hard not to do, work, think – without being inspired.
On the positive, when you are inspired it is a flood of thoughts, only limited by your ability to pour it all out. On the last post I wrote, a friend gently reminded me, “your posts are reaching the length of a book.” I said, “I know.” It’s that simple to pivot. Take constructive criticism and try something new.
Content creators on my marketing team would ask me, “How long to you want it and what format?” I would always reply with the same dumb answer.” “Long enough to get your point across but short enough not to bore people to death. Choose the format that tells the story.” (Not even sure if that even really made any sense – but they got the point)
So I’ll take my own advice and optimize my content strategy. Being short and concise is harder for me and I’m always game for a challenge. It is easier for me to spew out pages of content and 100 different ideas, harder to prioritize and decide on the few to share. The money line. The one that positions your brand or product with the utmost clarity.
After my theatrically long post this weekend, here is my poetic justice.
Control, reining in the rogue.
Drama needing objectivity.
Too granular to understand the big picture
Too big to understand the granular.
Time management, priority, focus.
Perceived reactive decisions.
It’s not real.
Trust and credibility, a hamster wheel with no end.
Assumptions, Information overload. The unSmart.
Objective. Qualitative meets quantitative.
Building in triple time for the important.
collaborative analysis, ah ha moments.
Building connections. Dependencies.
If you have started blogging for your business and feeling pressured by the unfounded need to blog more frequently. Try something different. Shake things up. Turn the traditional upside down. There should be no such thing as blogger’s block.
No virtual paper to crunch up and throw away. Just some random thoughts pulled together in a burst of profound synergy. And that is what I’ll leave you with today.
Try it and share. Feel good – anything is open here.
